River Rafting in Chiang Dao Thailand

Dear followers,  We've been without internet/cell phone service for several days so I apologize for the delay in blogging.  Finally found a hotel with internet service that functions, and I will do my best to get back on track!

June 11 - Following the elephant trek, and yummy lunch served by our guide, Marybeth and I headed down the Ping River for a one hour river rafting experience.  Our raft was made of large bamboo stalks tied together with rope.  A small bench was anchored to the bamboo.  No rapids to worry about (fortunately). We saw various types of interesting birds (cuckoo and kingfisher) an icky snake hanging from a tree branch, and a fisherman using his net to catch some fish from the river bank.  No villages to be seen.  It was desolate but serene.
