Bagan Villagers at Work
These photos are in the same small village. We captured a woman cooking a meal for her family, a man working on engraving and lacquer. The process for lacquerware takes 7 months from beginning to end. Products are kept in underground storage for one week at a time between painting and engraving. The end result is amazing. The more detailed, the higher the cost. We saw vases, screens, and furniture that cost thousands of dollars! Unfortunately, we were down to a few American dollars between the two of us, and no banks or ATM's in Myanmar! I think this was probably a good situation for us. :)
