Life Concerns Orphanage

June 13 - We were thrilled to be able to visit a Burmese orphanage about an hour drive north of Yangon.  Joney Thawng Hup (Director of Life  Concerns) was kind enough to meet us at our hotel, and then travel with us to visit his orphanage.  He cares for  total of 16 children (in addition to two of his biological children) in a charming and welcoming home.  Children ages range from age 5 to age 20 (9 girls and 7 boys).  Most children have arrived from Chinland, and several others from various villages in Myanmar.  Joney along with his wife, mother-in-law, and father provide compassion and loving care for these adorable young people.
Having some technical difficulties downloading photos of all the kids from
the orphanage. They will be posted soon. Pictures I have been able to post are of the home, children bedrooms, kitchen, and water filtration system to purify water for the family. Bags of rice as well as a storage building for rice provide staple meals for all. Joney stated that they consume about 5-7 bags of rice - large white bags in photo - a month. Lots of mouths to feed. Much more to write, but tired from another long day touring Myanmar. Sites continue to be breathtaking and inspiring!
